We built Korus because we lived the problem.
Our founders spent decades working in higher education — in teaching centers, faculty development programs, and institutional leadership. We know firsthand what it looks like when feedback works, and what it looks like when it doesn't.
Where Korus came from
Korus was born inside the University of Utah's Academic Innovation & Intelligence Lab — out of years of running a faculty-facing course-evaluation program and watching commercial platforms get in the way.
The first problem we wanted to solve was the one that bothered us most: every platform change severed the institution's record of student experience. Trend lines disappeared. Program review and accreditation lost the longitudinal evidence they depended on. Faculty couldn't see whether they were improving — because the data didn't follow them across the change.
So we built Korus to keep that record intact. Reports faculty actually read came next. Then discovery tools CTLs can act on. Then AI narratives leaders can trust. And, most recently, the survey infrastructure underneath all of it — because the most reliable way to make sure feedback gets to the people who need it is to control the whole pipeline.
Our mission
Korus exists to give faculty and institutional leaders the student-voice infrastructure they deserve — and to connect every role in the institution around shared evidence of what students are experiencing.
We believe that faculty genuinely want to improve. We believe that students genuinely want to be heard. And we believe that the gap between them is mostly an infrastructure problem — one that purpose-built software can solve, when it's designed for the specific operational reality of higher education.
We're building that infrastructure.
The team
Adam Halstrom
Twenty years in faculty development, instructional design, and course-evaluation management. Previously Feedback and Innovation Systems Manager at the University of Utah, where he ran the institution's course-evaluation program — and founded Korus to build the platform he wished he'd had.
Shaun Moon
Product strategist with twenty years of experience building data and intelligence products that connect people to insights that matter. Leads product design and strategy for the Korus platform, working to ensure every Korus product is genuinely useful to every person who touches it.
Morgan Doane
Full-stack engineer and data platform architect. Designed and built Korus's qualitative data processing pipeline, and leads Korus's technical architecture with a focus on security, scalability, and the clean UX that makes complex data feel approachable.
